India’s priorities as incoming President of the Group of Twenty (G-20) will be inclusive, equitable, and sustainable growth, LiFE (Lifestyle For Environment), women’s empowerment, and the development of digital public infrastructure, according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. According to the Ministry, G-20 priorities are being firmed up in ongoing discussions. In addition to technology-enabled development, other priorities include skills mapping, culture, tourism, climate financing, the circular economy, and global food security.

The Indian Presidency, which begins on December 1, 2022, and runs until 30 November next year, will focus on energy security, green hydrogen, disaster risk reduction and resilience, development cooperation, fighting economic crime, and multilateral reforms. New Delhi is scheduled to host the G-20 Leaders’ Summit on 9th and 10th September 2023.

According to earlier reports, India will invite two more Arab countries to the New Delhi summit in addition to the UAE. Using India’s discretion as incoming President of the inter-governmental forum of the world’s major developed and developing economies, Egypt and Oman will be invited. The G-20 already includes Saudi Arabia as a full member.
